FORMATION OF THE CLINICAL ASPECT OF THE CONCEPT “MENTAL DEVELOPMENT DELAY” IN NATIONAL SPECIAL PEDAGOGY

Annotation

Delays of mental development in our country are traditionally studied in several domains - clinical, psychological and pedagogical. Despite different research focuses, clinical aspect has been the priority direction for a long time. It can be explained by the fact that clinical physicians were the first to pay attention to the given group of children, to characterize and systematize forms of this condition in detail; with their help, psychological and pedagogical studies of children with delays of mental development began. All this allows describing the history of becoming and development of the clinical aspect of the problem under study. The author of the article mentions the main stages of formation of the concept “mental development delay” in national medical science.
