Annotation

The article dwells on the topical issue of motivation development and its role in forming independence of a student’s personality in higher educational institutions. The author presents the model of personal independence formation, level criteria for need-motivational sphere and proves the leading role of motivation in forming independence of students as confirmed by the results of experimental research.
